Video Copilot's new After Effects filter Optical Flares should be shipping in less than a week, and they've pulled out all the stops on the hype machine. There's an impressive (Darth Vader voice optional) number of helpful feature tours on all aspects of this promising new low-priced tool.Features include: 3D Lens Flares with AE Lights, Intuitive Design Interface, Live Visual Preset Library, Real Texture Support, Dynamic Triggering Animations, Chromatic Aberration, Creative Tutorials, & 32 bpc color support.
Optical Flares was delayed in November to add features like a "Video Copilot Preset Network" at the time of a surprise Knoll Lens Flare update. That preset feature wasn't spotted on the new product page, but in the mean time Red Giant did announce the resurrection of the idea of the Trapcode People preset network as Red Giant People and is pulling out the big gun with Interview with John Knoll – Need Your Help!
Apart from this relative excitement, there's old news that could be explored in Breath life into stale Lens Flares and Real world lens flare tests.
